I've been asked a lot about the EMSella and Tesla chairs lately. Today, I want to share my thoughts on a trendy gadget that's been making waves in beauty salons and home practices. I've had the chance to hop onto the EMSella a few times now, and it's quite the experience. First, this chair is massive and definitely not something you'd call budget-friendly.
My initial encounter with the EMSella chair was at a beauty salon, and, to be honest, it was a bit of an eye-opener. They cranked up the settings, and for someone like me who isn't dealing with pelvic pain, it was a tad uncomfortable, to say the least. However, on my next visit, this time with the EMSella reps, things were a bit more tolerable.
While the EMSella chair isn't all bad, I couldn't help but wonder if similar results could be achieved through vaginal and rectal electrical stimulation under the guidance of a pelvic health physio. It felt like the chair was only scratching the surface of the pelvic floor muscles, kinda missing the mark on the goal of pelvic floor muscle training. Looking at the training manual and the studies they use as evidence, the cohorts were small, and the research wasn't well-established.
Also, I’ve had feedback from another pelvic health physio colleague who also shared similar concerns. She felt like it only targeted the superficial muscles, and for someone like her with pelvic pain, it actually made things worse. Yep, you heard that right – worse. Not to mention, there isn't even a formal assessment process in place, just a quick day course to learn how to operate the chair. That's why I always recommend getting checked out by a pelvic floor physio before hopping onto the EMSella or Tesla chairs.
So, there you have it, my two cents on the EMSella chair and its Tesla counterpart. While they might seem like the next big thing in pelvic health, I urge you to proceed with caution. After all, when it comes to your pelvic health, nothing beats a personalized approach tailored by an experienced pelvic floor physio.
